Clevite Engine Parts and the Randy Dorton Memorial Fund have teamed up to raise money for the NASCAR Technical Institute’s Randy Dorton Memorial Fund Scholarship. A special charity auction will take place on eBay in addition to two other auctions — a silent charity auction and a live auction – both scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 24 at the prestigious NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC, as part of the Final Round of the Clevite Engine Builder Showdown. Proceeds from each auction will benefit the Randy Dorton Memorial Fund.

FBI Probes Ford Worker

The FBI is investigating whether a Ford Motor Co. hourly employee stole expensive industrial computer programs and sold pirated copies worth more than $1 million on the online auction site eBay. What’s unusual is that the pirated products, which can cost $1,000 a copy, typically are used only in manufacturing and factory management operations by large industrial corporations — not the sort of items individuals would seek to buy.

Former Employee Indicted on Charges of Stealing Auto Parts

A former auto worker has been indicted on charges he took part in a scheme to steal auto parts and sell them on eBay, U.S. Attorney James Martin said Monday. Ronald Casagrande, 45, of suburban St. Louis, Mo., worked as a maintenance technician for the DaimlerChrysler assembly plant in Fenton, Mo.. From November 2002 to December 2003, he allegedly stole auto parts from the plant and sold them, according to the indictment.

CFS and APRA to Jointly Host Heavy-Duty Seminars at International Big R Show

The Council of Fleet Specialists (CFS) and the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) have announced a joint educational effort that they say is a first in the heavy-duty parts business. The two associations have teamed up to present educational seminars for rebuilders of heavy-duty truck parts and equipment, for both on- and off- road vehicles. The seminars, followed by the largest display of rebuilding equipment, components, cores and supplies in the U.S., will take place during the “International BIG R Show” on Oct. 29 – Nov. 1 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
