AAIA Town Hall at AAPEX Switches to TV Talk Show Format
The traditional “firing squad” panel format of the annual AAIA Town Hall meeting at AAPEX has been replaced with a more dynamic and interactive television talk show-style staging, AAIA announced today. The Town Hall breakfast, sponsored by NASCAR Performance, will be held from 7 a.m. to 8:50 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Venetian Ballroom in Las Vegas.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named Christopher Werner vice president of manufacturing for its North American Tire (NAT) business unit. Werner was most recently senior vice president, global operations for GST AutoLeather, Inc., a supplier of automotive leather for luxury vehicles from Toyota/Lexus, Acura, Ford, Chrysler and others.
Insurance Firms Drop Support of Asbestos Fund
While the number of claimants seeking restitution for asbestos-related claims continues to grow, more than a dozen insurance companies have withdrawn their support for the proposed $140 billion federal trust fund that would serve to pay these claims, according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). This will likely have an impact on Congress’ passage of legislation on asbestos litigation, as Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Sen. Arlen Specter, was expected to introduce a trust fund bill this week, the report said.

GPWC Holdings BV, a group of four carmakers, said it has appointed International Sports and Entertainment AG (iSe) to start building the operational and commercial structure immediately for a new car racing event replacing Formula One by 2008 at the latest.
Comergent Technologies Acquires Profile Systems, Inc.
Comergent Technologies, a leading provider of demand chain management applications, has acquired Profile Systems, a developer of product information (PIM) and inventory management companies for business-to-business e-business. Under the terms of the agreement, Comergent Technologies has acquired all the outstanding Profile Systems shares and technology. Profile Systems employees have been retained in the West Springfield, Mass., office.
