Michelin North America and ACCC Sign Three-Year Contract Extension

Michelin North America has extended its partnership with American Car Care Centers (ACCC), signing a three-year contract extension to supply the independent dealer network with Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal and private and associate brand tires. This new agreement extends a strategic partnership between the two companies which began in 1993. ACCC is one of the largest networks of independent tire and automotive service dealers, with more than 1100 locations nationwide.

International Speedway Reports Fourth Quarter And Year-End Results

International Speedway Corp. (ISC) has reported results for the fourth quarter and year, which ended on Nov. 30, 2003. Total revenue for the 2003 fourth quarter was $164.7 million, compared to $171.7 million in 2002. Operating income for the fourth quarter was $56.5 million compared to $65.3 million for the prior year. Net income was $31.6 million, or $0.60 per diluted share, compared to $37 million, or $0.70 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2002.

NAPA Windshield Receives Two Manufacturer of the Year Awards

NAPA Windshield Products has received the 2003 NAPA Manufacturer of the Year Award from the NAPA Underhood Sales Group as well as the NAPA Retail Sales Group, honoring it as the top supplier for these sales groups. The two awards were presented to the Windshield Products group at the NAPA Sales Meeting in Atlanta on January 15.

Brake Parts Inc. Promotes Mike Zissman to VP Product Development for Under Vehicle Group

Brake Parts Inc. has promoted Mike Zissman to the position of vice president of product development for the Under Vehicle Group. Zissman has more than 30 years of experience working in the automotive aftermarket industry and almost 19 years with Brake Parts Inc. He has held numerous positions in sales, marketing and product development, including vice president of the McQuay Norris/Aimco sales group, director of data administration and senior director of product development.

R. L. Polk & Co. Establishes Commercial Vehicle Advisory Board

R. L. Polk & Co. has announced the formation of its first-ever commercial vehicle advisory board. This new board is charged with advising Polk on its strategic position in the commercial vehicle sector, product offerings, providing input on marketing communication strategies and supporting Polk’s commercial vehicle sales team in growing customer relationships.

R. L. Polk Canada Announces Management Changes

Kendra Rawls has been appointed vice president, R. L. Polk & Co. and general manager, R. L. Polk Canada, Inc. In this position, Rawls is responsible for managing Polk’s activities in Canada including vehicle registration reporting, automotive intelligence and analysis and marketing solutions. Rawls replaces Bill Murray who has been named vice president of international development at Polk’s international headquarters in Southfield, Mich. Murray is now responsible for overseeing operations in Brazil, Canada and Mexico plus the development of product offerings in Polk’s emerging markets.

Siemens VDO Automotive Presents 2003 Rep of the Year Award

Siemens VDO Automotive has presented Mike Wirth and Doug Mathe of RepWorks Marketing with their 2003 Rep of the Year Award. RepWorks Marketing is responsible for Siemens VDO’s automotive aftermarket sales activities in California, Arizona and Nevada. RepWorks Marketing has represented Siemens VDO Automotive for approximately four years. RepWorks is headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif., and has an office in Phoenix, Ariz.

Art Fisher, CEO of Fisher Auto Parts and Founder of Federated Auto Parts Distributors, Dies at 65

Arthur Jay (Art) Fisher Jr., CEO of Fisher Auto Parts and founder of Federated Auto Parts Distributors, died Jan. 15 in Staunton, Va. He was 65. A graduate of Hope College in Holland, Mich., Fisher taught school before entering the automotive aftermarket in 1964. Under his leadership, Fisher Auto Parts grew from a single location to become one of the largest independently owned auto parts chains in the U.S. Today there are more than 300 Fisher Auto Parts stores, with 18 warehouses and more than 2,000 employees. Fisher founded Federated Auto Parts Distributors in 1985. Federated quickly became one of the industry’s premier programmed marketing groups, with more than 3,800 Federated Auto Parts Stores and 2,400 Federated Car Care Centers today nationwide. In addition to his work and dedication to Fisher and Federated Auto Parts, Fisher served on the board of governors of AWDA and served as chairman in 2001.
