From mergers and acquisitions to changes in leadership, our editors have selected the 10 most critical events impacting our industry in 2004 and beyond.

On December 1, aftermarketNews.com will run “The Top 10 News Stories of 2004,” which will also be published in the December issue of Counterman magazine, along with “The Top 10 Newsmakers of 2004.” In addition, both publications will feature the 2004 Counterman magazine Top Ten Distribution Influences.

All three lists will be published annually.

Asahi Kasei Announces Future L-I Battery Separator Plant

The lithium-ion battery separator plant will be constructed in Port Colborne, in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada.

Asahi Kasei announced it will construct its previously announced integrated lithium-ion battery (LIB) separator plant in Port Colborne, which is in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada. The new manufacturing facility will operate as Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada and is expected to create highly skilled, good-paying jobs in manufacturing and construction, according to the latest press information. The start of commercial production is currently slated for 2027.
