LORD Corp., maker of Fusor Repair Adhesives, a metal and plastic bonding solution for the automotive collision repair market, has announced the launch of a new I-CAR Alliance Course focused on repair procedures for structural and mechanical bonding.

LORD - LogoAvailable as of April 1, Fusor 008 Structural and Mechanical Bonding was developed in response to changing industry trends and repair procedures. Key objectives of the hands-on training course include understanding the differences between structural and crash durable adhesives, recognition of the types of mechanical fastening, how to safely use adhesives, as well as an overview of adhesive options and applications.

According to Douglas Craig, technical application engineer and collision industry liaison for LORD Corp., there have been major changes during the past few years in vehicle construction methodology to include metals, adhesives and mechanical fasteners, This has resulted in radical changes related to how repairs must be made.

“Collision repair professionals need to be up-to-date on the repair solutions and processes available to them to make the right repair,” said Craig. “This new Fusor 008 Structural and Mechanical Bonding training course brings the most current information on adhesives and mechanical bonding repair solutions to everyone involved in the repair process. Further, the course is available right in the shop, enabling relevant training in a format that technicians can quickly absorb, while earning I-CAR Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual designations.”

Fusor 008 Structural and Mechanical Bonding joins a broad portfolio of training already offered by LORD Corp., and says it is the first adhesive company to offer such curriculum by the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) through the Industry Training Alliance program. Fusor 005 Weld Bonding, launched in 2001, was the first weld bonding course offered through the I-CAR Training Alliance. Formed by I-CAR in 2000, the Industry Training Alliance brings together technical training providers to optimize the educational efforts of the collision industry.

Available in the United States and Canada, the LORD Fusor Training Alliance courses provide the latest adhesive and seam sealer applications procedures to the body shop professional. Developed to fit the needs of automotive OEMs, insurance companies and collision repair industry experts, these courses are designed to teach proper product repair procedures using lean processes that result in repairs that match original, OEM performance and appearance. Training can be customized to meet any schedule as classes are offered during the day or after hours. Upon completion of the course and exam, a certificate will be issued to the attendee which will allow them to apply for I-CAR alliance credits. Courses also include the latest information on product-specific OEM recommendations and procedures, where applicable.
