LIVERMORE, CA — Activant Solutions has introduced a web-based solution designed to help automotive and commercial-vehicle parts distributors create and manage large numbers of parts auctions through the eBay Motors online marketplace.
The new Activant AuctionExpert solution, developed with insight from eBay Motors, is designed to help traditional parts distributors and jobbers generate revenue from previously slow-moving stock. It can also be used to enhance the presence and efficiency of existing online auctions, the company said.

According to the company, the Activant AuctionExpert product automates the auction process, including the development of accurate, standardized auction titles through Activant’s electronic buyer’s guide transformation tools. These steps otherwise require manual input and other time-intensive processes that have caused some aftermarket businesses to avoid the eBay Motors opportunity or dedicate full-time in-house resources to the management of their online auctions, Activant said.
The Activant solution leverages the capabilities of the Activant ePartExpert and cover-to-cover eCatalog products to automatically generate auction titles and application listing information. The user also can link part images and other value-added content from the Activant cover-to-cover module to each auction item to increase visibility and interest. The company said the availability of standardized auction listing titles also helps distributors and jobbers enhance the performance of their existing eBay Stores and listings within Internet search engines and online comparative shopping tools.
The solution is designed for easy integration with most aftermarket ERP systems, including the Activant Prism, Activant Vision and Activant Eagle for J-CON systems.
