CARY, NC — LORD Corp., maker of LORD Fusor Automotive Repair Adhesives, recently received a service award from the Northeast Division of Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR). LORD received the award for its ongoing support to I-CAR during the past 13 years.
LORD was the first adhesive company to offer curriculum by I-CAR through the Industry Training Alliance program and to date has trained more than 12,000 technicians. Formed by I-CAR in 2000, the Industry Training Alliance brings together technical training providers to optimize the educational efforts of the collision industry. Technicians who complete LORD Corp.’s hands-on Fusor 001 Bonding/Repair Curriculum qualify to earn I-CAR Gold Class Points while learning valuable skills to improve quality and reduce cycle times in the repair process. The Fusor 001 training was developed so auto body technicians would have consistent training throughout the industry.
“Over the years, LORD Corporation and I-CAR have had a strong industry relationship, and we share some of the same goals related to delivering training to the technicians and teaching procedures on OEM Technical Service Bulletins,” said Joe Rodriguez, zone manager, LORD Corp. “With all of the changes to new vehicles regarding high-strength alloys, composites and foams, it makes good business sense to work in conjunction with the I-CAR team.”
Jim Perritt, North American sales manager for LORD Fusor Automotive Repair Adhesives, credits the strength of the Fusor 001 training to LORD Corp.’s 20 years-plus of service to the industry. According to Perritt, the first sale of a LORD Fusor repair product was to General Motors in the 1980s. Today, many of the same proven adhesive technologies that LORD provides to automotive manufacturers throughout the world are available to the body shop technician.
