The second half of Northwood’s Leadership 2.0 kicked off with drinks, conversations, reunions, networking and featured keynote speaker Mike Mohler. Mohler took participants on a journey “through the corridors of determination and success” through his speech. This continued the first week of Leadership 2.0 which focuses on unorthodox and competitive advantages. He discussed how being vigilant and ready to fill in gaps can lead to achievement in the industry.
The second half of Leadership 2.0 is hosted at Hendricks University in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the first week of Leadership 2.0, Mohler kicked off events with the idea of “co-opetition” drawing inspiration from “drafting” in NASCAR – where one driver pushes another car to help it gain speed and potentially, win the race. This technique allows both cars to achieve faster speeds by reducing aerodynamic drag. Mohler likened it to the supreme competitiveness of Hendrick Motorsports, calling it “the pinnacle of excellence in NASCAR.”
Mohler’s discussion emphasized the importance of a multifaceted and multigenerational approach highlighting the importance of sustainable competitive advantage. He focused on facing challenges and striving for excellence, echoing Raymond Mohler Jr.’s sentiment “pressure is a privilege.”
In closing, Mohler left the audience with a call to action saying “Greatness is within reach when we lift each other up. People may not remember you, your name or what you said – but they will remember how you make them feel.”
