-Mike Mohler, EVP and CPO of the Automotive Parts Services Group, LLC., explored the concept of maintaining a competitive advantage. He drew parallels between the Mexican Cave Fish and how it adapted to its surroundings over time, using new skills to its benefit. He also touched on the four industrial revolutions, future trends and the significance of maintaining a positive outlook toward upcoming challenges. We can regard these challenges as ‘One Day’ or ‘Day One.’ Mohler emphasized the need to stay alert, engaged and proactive.
-Brian Porta, VP of Training at Hendrick Automotive Group, shed light on Rick Hendrick’s approach to building a culture that prioritizes people and performance. He emphasized servant leadership, leading by example and ensuring “your audio matches your video.” Porta also discussed the MBS method, a communication tool used by the team for over 40 years to enhance internal communication.
-Tunc Kip, president and CEO of GAMUT, talked about a problem solving philosophy and the DMAIC approach: define, measure, analyze, improve and control. Understanding the “current state” and setting clear objectives are crucial steps in this process. Kip highlighted the significance of utilizing a checklist with the right processes is key to effectively address issues.
-Dr. Frank Morgan, Ph. D, president and CEO of Morgan Associates, LLC., initiated a two-day discussion on Agile Leadership. Agile Leadership has emerged in response to today’s VUCA environment (Volatile, Uncertain, Confusing and Ambiguous). We learned to differentiate between Agile Leadership and Compliance Management, understanding when each style is most suitable.
The day concluded with a team dinner at Red Rocks Café, followed by the YANG regional meetup at the hotel sponsored by Global Parts Distributors.
