Katech Promotes Caleb Newman to VP for Aftermarket Division

Caleb Newman, vice president and director of engineering for Katech Inc., has been appointed vice president of the company's aftermarket division, Katech Performance. Katech Performance engineers and manufactures race-proven aftermarket crate engines and components for Gen3 LS1/LS6 and Gen4 LS2/LS7 engines including solid belt tensioners, coil relocation brackets, cylinder heads, dampers, pistons, push rods, throttle bodies and valve covers, among other high-performance products for the street and track.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Caleb Newman, vice president and director of engineering for Katech Inc., has been appointed vice president of the company’s aftermarket division, Katech Performance. Katech Performance engineers and manufactures race-proven aftermarket crate engines and components for Gen3 LS1/LS6 and Gen4 LS2/LS7 engines including solid belt tensioners, coil relocation brackets, cylinder heads, dampers, pistons, push rods, throttle bodies and valve covers, among other high-performance products for the street and track.

Newman will direct day-to-day operations and long-term corporate strategy for Katech Performance. He joined Katech in October 2000 as director of manufacturing and was instrumental in facilitating the company’s ISO:9001-2000 certification. Between 2002 and 2005, Newman, as an OEM project manager, helped direct Katech’s highly successful Cadillac CTS-V race engine and Cadillac XV16 prototype development programs. He was promoted to director of engineering in January 2004.

Prior to joining Katech, Newman completed an engineering consulting internship with JPR Inc. (Mississauga, Ontario) where he designed and fabricated an aftermarket turbocharger system for the Nissan 240SX. In 1997, with the R&D Engineering division of General Motors (Warren, MI), he engaged in hybrid powertrain fuel economy and emissions testing.

Newman graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 1998 with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering (automotive engineering core). In 2000, he earned a master of science in industrial engineering (high performance engine optimization core) from the University of Central Florida.

A member of the Society of Automotive Engineers International, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Specialty Equipment Market Association and SEMA’s Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council, Newman has presented technical seminars at prominent industry events including the Performance Racing Industry show and SAE Motorsports Engineering Conference.

A Sebastopol, CA, native, Newman currently resides in Troy, MI, with his wife Lisa and newborn daughter, Alexis.
