JX Nippon Oil & Energy USA Launches ENEOS 0W-16 Motor Oil With Next Generation Technology

ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil has already launched in Japan and has been widely used for cars, including hybrid and ECO vehicles, where 0W-16 is specified.

JX Nippon Oil & Energy USA Inc. has announced that ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil, developed with the next generation technology of JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., is scheduled to launch on Dec. 16 in the U.S. and Canada.

eneos-fuelDue to growing environmental concerns, resulting in new fuel economy regulations, JX says it has set a corporate mission to take a leading role in helping reach improved goals through its products. Using in-house research and technology, JX developed its new low-viscosity motor oil, ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil, in conjunction with Japanese automakers.

ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil is formulated with 100-percent synthetic base oils and a unique additive technology, according to the company. The company says it can provide a maximum of 2-percent fuel savings over 0W-20 oils.

“As technical requirements for oils are different depending on engine type, we ran tests with many types of engines to provide the best performance where 0W-16 is recommended. In addition, lower viscosity can cause lower lubricity,” said Hiroya Miyamoto, senior manager at JX Nippon Oil & Energy USA Inc., who was formerly senior staff of the Lubricants Research Laboratory at JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp. “In order to solve the tradeoff of protection for performance, it was necessary to precisely design optimal viscosity and carefully select additives. After full analysis, ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil was successfully developed. I am very confident ENEOS 0W-16 can not only provide outstanding fuel-saving performance, but it will also offer exceptional engine protection.”

ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil has already launched in Japan and has been widely used for cars, including hybrid and ECO vehicles, where 0W-16 is specified.
