Johnson Controls Elects David Abney to Its Board of Directors

Abney has held numerous positions throughout his 35 years with UPS. He currently directs all operations worldwide including a sophisticated global transportation network.

MILWAUKEE — The directors of Johnson Controls have elected David Abney to its board of directors. Abney, 54, is the chief operating officer for UPS.

"We are delighted to have David join our board of directors," said Stephen Roell, chairman, president and CEO of Johnson Controls. "He brings impressive operational experience and I know that he will provide valued counsel and make important contributions to our board."

Abney has held numerous positions throughout his 35 years with UPS. He currently directs all operations worldwide including a sophisticated global transportation network. He oversees the pick-up and delivery of 15.8 million packages and documents daily to a service area that includes every address in the United States, as well as more than 200 countries and territories.

He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Delta State University. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Abney serves on the board of directors of the Delta State University Alumni Foundation and the Air Transport Association. He is also a board member of the Southern Center for International Studies and the Coalition of Service Industries.
