HDA Truck Pride and Northwood University have named Anthony Lewis as the 2018 recipient of the Heavy Duty America Fund Memorial Endowed Scholarship, for the second consecutive year. The prestigious scholarship was established to honor the memory of two important figures in the aftermarket industry, Pete Bley of Tractor Trailer Supply Co. and Jim Burke, Sr. of Drive Train Industries. The annual award is given to a Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket student.
“This scholarship honors two gentlemen whose work ethic and determination to succeed in the heavy-duty aftermarket were unmatched only by their dedication to and enthusiasm for the industry as a whole. Anthony exemplifies these traits and has proven himself through his own hard work and pristine personality. We’re honored to be part of his senior year at Northwood as he completes his education,” said Don Reimondo, president and CEO of HDA Truck Pride (formerly HD America) and fellow graduate of Northwood University.
A senior from Commerce, Michigan, Lewis will be graduating a semester early in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. Lewis has had the good fortune to experience both the supplier and distributor side of the aftermarket industry through summer internships. His exposure to the distribution side of the marketplace was developed through his internship with HDA Truck Pride member, Total Truck Parts in West Palm Beach, Florida. His supplier experience is still in process, as he concludes his second summer internship with Tenneco Inc. This summer he has served as a sales support intern for the West Coast.
Lewis has been a member of Northwood’s Dean’s List and has been active in Northwood’s Go Mad Day, where hundreds of students, staff and friends of the university engage in community service projects. Lewis loves baseball and traveling and hopes to visit Italy, his homeland, after graduation.
