JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Automotive & Diesel Technology Programs Advisory Committee for Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) has appointed aftermarket veteran Skip Potter as chair of its inter-industry group.
Donnie Thompson, instructional program manager at FSCJ, welcomed Potter’s appointment saying, “Skip will be a great asset to me as I seek to send my graduating students off with modern skills into shops that will find them to be valuable employees.”
Potter began volunteer service on this committee within weeks of his relocation to northeast Florida nearly a year ago, after enjoying several years working with the automotive programs of community colleges throughout Maryland and Delaware. Potter had served as CEO of the Chesapeake Automotive Business Association (CABA) from 2004 to 2011.
“I see the future of the aftermarket in these college programs,” Potter explained. “Our industry cries out for qualified techs and these college automotive programs cry out for industry involvement. Advisory groups like this connect us both.”
