Federal-Mogul Motorparts Announces Second Round Of Annual Scholarships For Automotive Technology Students

The Garage Gurus scholarships are part of the company’s added investment in current and future automotive technicians.

Garage Gurus - LogoFor the second consecutive year, Federal-Mogul Motorparts will award $30,000 in scholarships to future automotive technicians who are enrolled in accredited, U.S.-based automotive technical schools, colleges or universities. The scholarships are part of the company’s comprehensive “Tech First” initiative, which includes the nationwide Garage Gurus network of technical education centers. Federal-Mogul Motorparts is a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp.

Motorparts will award 12 $2,500 Garage Gurus Automotive Technology Scholarships for the 2016-‘17 academic year. Applications, available at FMgaragegurus.com/scholarship, must be submitted by March 31, 2016. The company will announce the 12 new recipients on April 15, 2016.

“I would encourage any student who is considering applying for the scholarship to go for it,” said 2015-‘16 Garage Gurus scholarship recipient Summer Miller, an automotive technology student at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, Texas. “When I first heard about the program, I wondered if a small-town student planning to attend a community college had a chance, but I applied and won. Thanks to Federal-Mogul Motorparts, I have been able to focus on my studies rather than worrying about incurring debt from student loans.”

Scholarship awards will be based on completed applications, written essays or videos describing, “Why I want to be a top technician,” and other criteria. All applications and related materials will be reviewed by Federal-Mogul Motorparts employees and its team of ASE Master certified Garage Gurus.

“As a leading provider of premium replacement components, we view it as our responsibility to help encourage and support the next generation of automotive service professionals,” said Brent Berman, director of training and consumer experience, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “This industry offers tremendous opportunity for talented, hardworking professionals who are interested in diagnosing and repairing a variety of complex vehicle systems. We are pleased to help ease their path into our industry and, going forward, provide the technical education they will need to advance their careers in the service bay.”

Offering on-site, online and on-demand instruction, Garage Gurus is a first-of-its-kind national training platform designed to help front-line automotive service professionals keep pace with the latest vehicle technologies. State-of-the-art Garage Gurus technical education centers are now in operation in eight U.S. markets – Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Rancho Dominguez, California, South Florida and Van Nuys, California. Additional locations, including Boston, Houston and suburban Detroit, are scheduled to open in the coming months.
