Federal-Mogul Introduces New Abex Transit Block

The new Abex MQ transit block joins the family of premium commercial vehicle products from Federal-Mogul and extends the company's leadership as a supplier of original equipment and replacement friction solutions for the transit market.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Quieter brake operation, excellent stopping power and extended lining life are now available for transit vehicles through the new Abex MQ transit block from Federal-Mogul. The Abex brand offers a complete friction portfolio for the commercial vehicle category, with products available through leading distributors across North America.

The new Abex MQ transit block joins the family of premium commercial vehicle products from Federal-Mogul and extends the company’s leadership as a supplier of original equipment and replacement friction solutions for the transit market, the company says. The new MQ transit block is engineered to significantly reduce noise and help ensure a stable, reliable and safe braking system. As with all Abex friction products, the new MQ transit block exceeds the performance and quality requirements of the most demanding customers and delivers superior wear characteristics in both low- and high-floor bus applications, according to Federal-Mogul.

Federal safety standard ratings for this new replacement lining are:

• FMVSS 121 – 26K (210 AL Factor) – Meritor 14.5-in. W Brake
• FMVSS 121 – 28K (195 AL Factor) – Meritor 16.5-in. Cast Plus

“Federal-Mogul and the Abex brand are widely recognized for products that deliver maximum braking power for commercial applications at a minimal cost per mile,” said Alesha Erving, product manager, commercial vehicle friction, Federal-Mogul. “Our new Abex MQ transit block offers these same important benefits combined with significantly quieter operation.”
