RALEIGH, NC — Al Duebber, owner of Duebber’s Automotive Service Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the winner of the 2004 CARQUEST Excellence Award. He received the award from Art Lottes, president of CARQUEST Corp. and Mike DeSorbo, national director of training and professional markets, CARQUEST Corp., on Oct. 9 in San Antonio, Texas.
“I’m very pleased to have been named the CARQUEST Excellence Award recipient,” Duebber said. “Attending the awards banquet and the Technician’s Advisory Council meeting was one of the most rewarding weekends of my life. I’m quite blessed with the recognition.”
A 32-year veteran of the automotive repair industry, Duebber is certified as a service consultant (level C1) by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). He also is an Accredited Automotive Manager through the Automotive Management Institute. Duebber’s Automotive Service Center was one of the first service centers in the country to be recognized by ASE as a Blue Seal of Excellence facility.
Now in its 13th year, the CARQUEST Excellence Award is announced annually in conjunction with the CARQUEST Technician’s Advisory Council meeting. The annual award seeks to recognize the independent automobile service business that, through the course of everyday service excellence, exemplifies the professionalism necessary to build public understanding and respect for people working in the auto service industry today. Winners are judged in five areas; technical expertise, customer relations, industry involvement, shop appearance and community involvement. In 2004 there were more than 500 entries.
