Bosch Spark Plugs Launches ‘The Gut-Check Challenge’ On Facebook

From now until July 18, a new online competition launched by Bosch Spark Plugs at www.facebook.com/boschautoparts tests real automotive know-how and spark plug smarts of auto enthusiasts, technicians and do-it-yourself (DIY) motorists in the U.S.

BROADVIEW, Ill. – Bosch Spark Plugs is asking car enthusiasts who think they have automotive smarts to give the company’s “Gut Check Challenge” a try.

From now until July 18, a new online competition launched by Bosch Spark Plugs at www.facebook.com/boschautoparts tests real automotive know-how and spark plug smarts of auto enthusiasts, technicians and do-it-yourself (DIY) motorists in the U.S.

The Gut Check Challenge grand prize winner and a guest will be flown to the Mecum Auto Auction, which takes place Aug. 16-18 in Monterey, Calif., where Wayne Carini of Velocity Network’s "Chasing Classic Cars" will help the winner place a bid on a dream car. If he or she wins the bid, Bosch will put up to $25,000 toward the payment.

The online contest consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. Any user who answers 16 or more questions correctly will move on to the final round consisting of three write-in questions that will require essay-type answers. In the event of a tie, the final write-in questions will be judged by a panel of experts.

“The Gut Check Challenge competition provides us with an excellent avenue to reach and engage Bosch’s loyal Facebook community of automotive enthusiasts whose knowledge we respect and are looking to recognize,” said Pam Krebs, director of advertising and sales promotion for Bosch.

According to Krebs, “While Bosch is continuing to advance the designs of these spark plugs which are most like OE, we know that the more knowledgeable our customer is, the better he or she will recognize and value our spark plugs."

The new Bosch line of OE fine-wire spark plugs includes the all-new Bosch Platinum and Bosch Iridium spark plugs. These plugs bring the best in OE technology to the aftermarket, including a 360-degree continuous laser welded iridium center electrode and a laser welded iridium-platinum alloy tipped ground electrode, Krebs says. Designed for American, Asian and European applications, the Bosch OE line of fine-wire spark plugs meet or exceed OE specifications and are all pre-gapped, helping a service technician reduce repair time and avoid comebacks, according to the company. They are backed by a seven-year consumer satisfaction guarantee and a 12-month professional technician warranty.

The contest will be live on the official Bosch Facebook Page www.facebook.com/boschAutoParts until July 18.
