CHICAGO — BorgWarner announced two new executive appointments this week.
John McGill has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president, global supply chain and champion of emerging market utilization. McGill has served as president and general manager of BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems, Drivetrain Group since December 2002. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of BorgWarner – Shenglong, one of the company’s joint ventures in China. Prior to joining BorgWarner, he was general manager of Eaton’s Fluid Power and Torque Control Products divisions.
According to Timothy Manganello, chairman and CEO of BorgWarner, the creation of this new position will help drive operating synergies throughout the company’s global supply chain and will help the company develop in emerging markets such as China.
Cynthia Niekamp will step into McGill’s previous role as president and general manager of BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems, Drivetrain Group, and vice president of BorgWarner Inc. She comes to BorgWarner from MeadWestvaco Corp. where she was senior vice president and CFO. Prior to that she served in a variety of senior roles for the company and its predecessor, Mead Corp. She started her career at General Motors in operations and engineering, before moving to TRW to assume operational and business development responsibilities. She currently serves on the board of directors of Delphi Corp.
