ELYRIA, Ohio – Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has added two executives to its management team in an effort to further support its plan to achieve $1 billion in sales by the end of the decade.

The North American leader in active safety and brake system technologies has appointed Robert Legato as vice president of integrated supply chain. Bill Mossing has been promoted to vice president and general manager of modules.

Legato joins Bendix after more than 20 years of strategic sourcing and supply chain experience in the global manufacturing arena. In his role as vice president of integrated supply chain, Legato will focus on achieving bottom-line results and supporting the company’s continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain and customer service. His key responsibilities will be to lead and drive improvement strategies in inventory management, freight management, demand planning and other areas within the supply chain. Legato will also develop and manage global purchasing strategies such as global sourcing, purchasing and delivery, as well as materials cost reduction to help meet Bendix short- and long-term business growth goals.

With a career featuring extensive domestic and global experience and proven performance, Legato comes to Bendix after serving as the vice president of supply chain for the fluid handling group Crane Co. in Kennesaw, Ga. He is certified in the Six Sigma process, specializing in sourcing and suppliers. Legato holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Gannon University in Erie, Pa. He and his family are new residents of Strongsville, Ohio.

“Bob brings to Bendix more than 20 years of progressive and accomplished supply chain management expertise,” said Joe McAleese, president and CEO of Bendix. “With the continued impact of globalization and today’s highly volatile commodity sourcing environment, his practical, hands-on experience and dynamic direction in developing global strategies to achieve world-class supply chain goals for on-time delivery, price and quality, make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team. Bob’s focus on this critical area is an essential element for our organization’s short- and long-term growth.”

Mossing to Lead Expanding Modules Business

In his new role as vice president and general manager of the Bendix modules business, Mossing will drive the continued expansion of the integrated modules strategy, with a focus on building and maintaining strong customer relations; lead effective partnerships with original equipment manufacturers to launch future intelligent technologies that enhance and expand module capabilities; and identify new and existing business opportunities for profitable growth. Mossing will also provide executive governance for the multi-site Bendix Huntington manufacturing operations.

Mossing most recently filled a dual role as product line director for specialty and actuation products and assistant general manager of Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, the Bendix wheel-end joint venture with Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC. A key force in developing long-term logistics, manufacturing strategies, and productivity initiatives, Mossing was an integral part of the joint venture’s development and launch in 2004 and a charter member of the organization’s leadership team. Prior to joining the company, Mossing served as the director of operations for Dana Corp.’s Commercial Vehicle Systems Division. He had been a part of the Dana organization, progressing through the leadership ranks, since 1989.

A resident of Strongsville, Ohio, Mossing holds a master’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s in engineering from the University of Toledo. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Michigan.

“Consistently demonstrating a keen ability to think strategically and to apply his diverse business background, Bill is well prepared to ensure the ongoing growth of our integrated modules program,” said Joe McAleese, president and CEO. “Our integrated modules business is on a dedicated path for growth. Bill has demonstrated a strong and consistent leadership in a variety of different disciplines that will help us achieve our goal. The Bendix legacy is built on innovation, dedication, and an exceptional commitment to our customers. With the addition of Bill and Bob Legato, we are fortunate to have cultivated an effective and experienced management team that will enable us to continue to move forward in our quest to develop and deliver the products that improve highway safety.”
