Autologic Diagnostics’ AssistPlus Selected As A Recipient Of The 2016 Good Design Awards

AssistPlus was recognized by Good Design for its capabilities in delivering comprehensive automotive diagnostics and easy access to support services, as well as simple viewing and sharing of vehicle information.

Autologic Diagnostics, a worldwide provider of a cloud-based, vehicle-connected aftermarket automotive diagnostic solution, announced it is a recipient of the 2016 Good Design Awards for its innovative AssistPlus device.

Founded in Chicago in 1950, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and most prestigious program for recognizing design excellence worldwide. It is organized annually by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, in cooperation with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

AssistPlus is a diagnostic scan tool developed to serve as the central hub of any automotive repair shop. Its proven technical capabilities combine third-party vehicle information with real-time access to live support from experienced technicians, all built directly into the device. AssistPlus uses state-of-the-art technology to bring these extensive online third-party vehicle data resources together with direct communication to the company’s award-winning Fault2Fix team. Using AssistPlus, Autologic customers can easily reach the Fault2Fix team, comprised of nearly 100-plus Master-trained OEM technicians that provide vehicle diagnostic support globally, right from the device. AssistPlus is a component of the fully integrated Assist solution Autologic delivers directly to the automotive diagnostics marketplace.

Autologic worked in partnership with Product Development Technologies (PDT), a global, full-service product development firm, based both in the U.K. and in Chicago, to create and customize the distinct features of its AssistPlus device.

AssistPlus was recognized by GOOD DESIGN for its capabilities in delivering comprehensive automotive diagnostics and easy access to support services, as well as simple viewing and sharing of vehicle information, such as vehicle data, fault codes, live technical data, pictures and video. The new AssistPlus delivers diagnostics four times faster than the previous model. Features acknowledged include its 13-inch touch screen and 5-megapixel camera that were integrated to ensure clear, effective visuals. Diagnostic test results are stored on the device by vehicle identification number (VIN) and synched to the cloud, allowing repair shop workers to seamlessly share information and simply review diagnostic test results.

“Our integrated Assist solution – including the AssistPlus device designed by PDT – was the first cloud-based, vehicle-connected automotive diagnostic system to enter the marketplace. Autologic remains on the cutting-edge of employing the latest technology to ensure our customers – repair shops throughout more than 120 countries – are armed with the tools they need to find and fix faults in vehicles fast. This fosters their productivity and, ultimately, increases revenue at the shop level,” said Jeremy Fry, CEO at Autologic. “By working with PDT, Autologic was able to customize and build the device and create a solution that directly addresses our customers’ needs and those of the now rapid technologically advancing-diagnostics marketplace. The AssistPlus has proven – time and again – its unique capabilities, and we were pleased to have worked with PDT on its development. We are excited that GOOD DESIGN has acknowledged the creativity and innovativeness that went into building this exclusive device.”

GOOD DESIGN received submissions from several thousands of leading manufacturers as well as industrial and graphic design firms from around the world, representing the most important and critical mass of influential corporations worldwide in the design industry from more than 55 countries.
