Atlas Copco Included In Dow Jones Sustainability Index For Fourth Consecutive Year

Atlas Copco was ranked in the top tier in the machinery and electrical equipment industry and received high scores in the following categories: environmental policy/management systems, environmental reporting and risk and crisis management.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The Atlas Copco Group (Atlas Copco AB) has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the fourth consecutive year.

Atlas Copco was ranked in the top tier in the machinery and electrical equipment industry and received high scores in the following categories: environmental policy/management systems, environmental reporting and risk and crisis management.

“We’re honored to once again be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which recognizes our commitment to sustainability and our ongoing efforts to increase productivity in ways that make a positive impact on the environment,” said Jim Levitt, president, Atlas Copco North America LLC.

Inclusion in the Sustainability Index is based on annual company assessments and comparison to industry peers; out of the approximately 2,500 public companies assessed by the index, only 10 percent are included in the final index. Key factors in the review include management of opportunities and associated risk that are derived from economic, environmental and social developments. Corporate governance and strategy, as well as key performance indicators like emission and waste, are also taken into consideration.

Earlier this year, Atlas Copco was ranked seventh by Newsweek Green Rankings, one of the world’s foremost corporate environmental rankings of the 500 largest publicly traded, global companies by market capitalization. Atlas Copco also was included in the Global 100 list of the world’s most sustainable companies, presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and was named one of the most ethical companies by Ethisphere Institute.
