Our recap of the week’s most-read news begins with a wrap-up of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance’s tri-annual “Aftermarket Magic” convention, which was held March 21-24 in Orlando, Fla. Counterman Editor Mark Phillips was on-hand for the event and shared highlights of the meeting, which included educational opportunities at 34 seminars as well as three days of vendor expo, inspirational speeches and entertainment. In other top news this week, UCI Holdings, parent company of UCI International, announced the company’s results for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2011. Net sales of $237.3 million were essentially even to the fourth quarter of 2010, the company said.

Last in our weekly wrap-up, we learn that the owners of the MAG Group are considering selling the company. The leading machine tool company hired Goldman Sachs to assist in evaluating strategic alternatives for the company. According to MAG, the global automotive business will remain together as one unit across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
