In a recent article forecasting workplace and employment trends for 2010, business futurists at The Herman Group estimated that approximately 54 percent of today’s employees are currently "corporate cocooning," and are ready to jump as soon as the economy improves. Herman Group cited the Conference Board research group, which recently reported job satisfaction has fallen to a record low of 45 percent, the lowest level ever recorded in 22 years of surveys.

In its article Herman Group wrote, "Corporate America has sacrificed the health and well-being of its employee populations on the altar of profitability. Some would say they are ‘lucky to have jobs at all,’ while workers have a different view. According to well-respected reward and recognition guru Bob Nelson (nelsonmotivation.com), more than 80 percent of today’s workers report feeling over-worked and under-appreciated."

To gage whether these sentiments were being reflected in the automotive aftermarket as well, we asked AMN readers: Do you plan to stay with your current employer in 2010? The results were positive, with 64 percent saying they plan to stay with their current employer this year. Thirty-six percent said they plan to make a change.
