PITTSBURGH — Alcoa has been named one of Fortune magazine’s “Most Admired Companies” in the magazine’s upcoming annual report on reputation.

Alcoa is one of the world’s leading producers of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina, and is active in all major aspects of the industry, including the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets.

Fortune named Alcoa the “Most Admired Metals Company,” ranking the company first in each of eight key attributes measured by the magazine: innovativeness, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment value and quality of products and services. This is the ninth consecutive year Alcoa was ranked the top metals company. Alcoa also ranked second in terms of social responsibility among companies in all industries.

For the annual report Fortune surveyed 592 companies in 64 industries, and asked approximately 10,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to rate companies in their own industries on the eight criteria.
