Pep Boys Integrates MISG’s TransLink EDI for e-Commerce

The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack — the nation’s leading automotive aftermarket service chain, has successfully integrated MISG’s Internet-based TransLink service for electronic data interchange (EDI) communications activities. Pep Boys, headquartered in Philadelphia, now uses TransLink as part of its overall e-commerce strategy to improve and streamline systems and minimize costs related to its supply chain processes.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack — the nation’s leading automotive aftermarket service chain, has successfully integrated MISG’s Internet-based TransLink service for electronic data interchange (EDI) communications activities. Pep Boys, headquartered in Philadelphia, now uses TransLink as part of its overall e-commerce strategy to improve and streamline systems and minimize costs related to its supply chain processes.

“MISG’s TransLink solution simplifies connectivity with our suppliers and reduces our e-commerce costs, which makes a lot of business sense to us and supports our strategic plan,” said Jim Donahue, manager of information technology for Pep Boys.

TransLink is an Internet-based solution that provides the reliability, security and support of a traditional EDI network but at the lower price level and increased flexibility of Internet applications. It has the inherent capability to connect a user to all major networks. This Trading Partner Independence eliminates the need for a company to set up multiple networks to connect with all of its different trading partners. TransLink also has the ability to translate document formats on the network, eliminating the requirement to have in-house translation software.

“Pep Boys has been a supply chain leader for many years,” said Alan Jones, president of MISG. “So it’s no surprise that it is taking advantage of TransLink’s ability to connect with any trading partner and significantly reduce EDI costs while retaining the high level of reliability and support it received for six years as a subscriber to Ansinet, our traditional VAN (Value Added Network) service.”
