2004 Aftermarket Web Challenge Finalists Announced

The MEMA Information Services (MIS) Council recently announced the finalists for its annual Aftermarket Web Challenge. This year’s finalists are Car Components Technologies in Bedford, N.H.; KEM Manufacturing Co. in Fairlawn, N.J.; and Robert Bosch Corporation in Broadview, Ill.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The MEMA Information Services (MIS) Council recently announced the finalists for its annual Aftermarket Web Challenge. This year’s finalists are Car Components Technologies in Bedford, N.H.; KEM Manufacturing Co. in Fairlawn, N.J.; and Robert Bosch Corporation in Broadview, Ill.

The Aftermarket Web Challenge is the automotive aftermarket’s oldest and most recognized competition and award for Web application excellence. It is sponsored by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) Information Services Council (MIS Council) and is held in conjunction with the organization’s annual Fall Conference.

The 2004 competition is focused on B2B extranets and is based on the increasing development within the aftermarket of these Web applications that connect manufacturers with their customers. A panel of judges composed of MIS Council Board Members chose the finalists from a pool of applications submitted in August.

“We had several exemplary applications submitted this year from a diverse group of aftermarket manufacturing companies,” said Chris Gardner, director of the MIS Council. “It was a tough decision, but the panel was able to come to agreement on the three applications that best met the criteria of the challenge.”

Applicants submitted screen shots of their applications and were required to answer the question: “How does your business-to-business extranet streamline supply chain processes, reduce costs and improve relations with your customers?”

The three finalists will compete at the MIS Council’s Annual Fall Conference on Oct.19, at the Marco Island Marriott Resort in Marco Island, Fla. Attendees, who will include aftermarket information technology and e-commerce professionals, will select a winning application based on content, features and usability.
