DETROIT — American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM), today announced the appointment of Joel Robinson to the non-board position of vice chairman.
Robinson joined AAM in 1994 and since then has held a series of positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to his current appointment, Robinson was president and COO of AAM, a position he held since 2001. In his new role, he will continue to report to AAM Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Richard Dauch.
“Joel D. Robinson has shared our strategic vision since day one,” said Dauch. “His expertise in the areas of manufacturing operations, from product planning to quality, productivity and program launch have helped AAM in reaching its goals. In his new position as vice chairman, Joel will focus on future strategies for profitable growth, as AAM expands its product portfolio, customer base and global footprint.”
Dauch added that the position of president and COO will not be filled at this time.
In addition to Robinson’s appointment, AAM has elected Elizabeth Chappell to its board of directors.
Since 2002, Chappell has served as president and CEO of the Detroit Economic Club, a nationally recognized organization that serves as a premier forum for the debate and discussion of important business, government and social issues. Chappell has a broad range of experience in strategic planning, information technology and application development and global project management.
She currently serves on numerous boards including the Detroit Economic Club, Handleman Co., Citizens Research Council, Hospice of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corp. She serves in an advisory capacity for United Way Community Services, and is a past board member of the Detroit Regional Chamber, Karmanos Cancer Institute and Michigan Economic Growth Authority.
