Demko and Costello Join Valvoline Marketing

Peter Demko and Steven Costello have joined Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., in key brand management roles, according to Walter Solomon, senior vice president and general manager, retail business.

LEXINGTON, KY — Peter Demko and Steven Costello have joined Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., in key brand management roles, according to Walter Solomon, senior vice president and general manager, retail business.

Demko is responsible for the MaxLife brand, Valvoline’s growing line of premium products for high-mileage vehicles. Costello manages the company’s high-volume flagship line of branded lubricants.

Demko comes to Valvoline with extensive brand management experience, working the past seven years in premium pet food categories at Del Monte Foods and H. J. Heinz in Pittsburgh. Most recently, he was at Sara Lee Foods, Cincinnati, where he was senior brand manager. Demko earned a bachelor of science degree from Western Kentucky University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Tennessee.

Costello joins Valvoline with big-brand innovation and marketing experience, serving the last five years in a number of brand and channel-marketing roles at Tropicana (PepsiCo) in Chicago. Costello earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Hardin-Simmons University and a master’s in business administration from Texas Christian University.

”The addition of Pete and Steve to our team will continue our evolution into a brand-building organization that drives brand image, volume and profit in every channel,” says Rolf Linder, vice president of marketing.

Both Demko and Costello will be based at Valvoline Division headquarters in Lexington, KY, and will report to Bryan Emrich, director of brand management.
