Collision Industry Donates Bus to Camp Mak-A-Dream

During the Collision Industry Night of Achievement at NACE in Las Vegas, the Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) donated a specially equipped bus to Camp Mak-a-Dream, a camp which specializes in children with active cancer.

MECHANICSVILLE, VA — During the Collision Industry Night of Achievement at NACE in Las Vegas, the Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) donated a specially equipped bus to Camp Mak-a-Dream, a camp which specializes in children with active cancer.

In August, CIF started a fundraiser, “Hop on the Bus,” which was a raffle to raise money to purchase the bus for the camp.

More than $130,000 was raised, mostly with the sale of $10 drawing tickets. One grand prize — an all-expense trip to the 2006 Daytona 500 for two — and six runner-up prizes worth $2,000 each were awarded. Sellers of the seven winning tickets were awarded $1,000 gift certificates. Twenty-eight industry affiliated companies donated to underwrite the administration and cost of the prizes.

The bus will be used at the camp, located in Montana. This effort builds on CIF’s prior efforts with the camp that went into building an on-site treatment facility.

“This demonstrates the tremendous heart and resolve of this industry,” said Karen Fierst, chair of the “Hop on the Bus” fundraising campaign. “This is one of our greatest accomplishments yet.”

The grand prize winner was Randy Olchefsleo, owner of a MAACO facility in Ham Lake, MN. Other prize winners can be found on the Collision Industry Foundation web site at collisionindustryfoundation.org.
