American Tire Distributors Opens New DC in Salt Lake City

American Tire Distributors (ATD) relocated its Salt Lake City operations into a new distribution center in the city’s Ninigret Complex. The 115,000-square-foot facility nearly quadruples ATD’s distribution capacity, replacing its former 30,000-square-foot location in the Utah city.

SALT LAKE CITY — American Tire Distributors (ATD) relocated its Salt Lake City operations into a new distribution center in the city’s Ninigret Complex. The 115,000-square-foot facility nearly quadruples ATD’s distribution capacity, replacing its former 30,000-square-foot location in the Utah city.

“Our new ATD distribution center is a bricks-and-mortar example of our commitment to our dealers in the Utah market,” said Dick Johnson, ATD chairman and CEO. “Our dealers will have the ability to access a much broader array of products and brands over the coming months, not only in terms of tires, but also the exciting and growing custom wheel business, tires supplies and equipment.”

ATD said the new distribution center will utilize a warehouse management system to improve inventory accuracy and enable it to “more efficiently receive and ship products.” Further, ATD said, the facility will employ a GPS-based computerized routing system to permit tracking of orders from door to door.
