Keystone Supports Future Industry Leaders

Keystone Automotive Industries is trying to make industry recruitment a little more fun. In an effort to encourage and support the future of auto body technicians, a number of Keystone branches are involving themselves in local and statewide competitions. At the start of the year, the Keystone Elkhart branch sponsored a large vocational-technical school competition in Coldwater, MI.

POMONA, CA — Keystone Automotive Industries is trying to make industry recruitment a little more fun. In an effort to encourage and support the future of auto body technicians, a number of Keystone branches are involving themselves in local and statewide competitions.

At the start of the year, the Keystone Elkhart branch sponsored a large vocational-technical school competition in Coldwater, MI. The annual Skills USA Competition, held on Jan. 28, provided an opportunity for future body shop owners and managers to learn new skills and make important industry connections. The Elkhart branch, which was recognized as a contributor to the event, provided shirts to the students and banners for the walls, as well as prizes for the winners. Automotive.

“It was great to see the kid’s enthusiasm; something our industry can always use more of,” said Chris Brown, a general manager for Keystone Automotive.

In March, Keystone’s Lansing, MI, branch sponsored a similar Skills USA Competition event where approximately 30 students from area vocational centers competed for the opportunity to advance to the state finals. Automotive.

“We have been sponsoring this event for three years now. Our goal is to give these kids a positive introduction to the collision industry, one they will carry with them into their careers,” said Tim Harrison, a general manager for Keystone Automotive Industries.
