AWDA’s 2006 Pursuit of Excellence Award was presented to Bill Schlatterer, executive vice president/CFO/CEO, Parts Warehouse, Inc. Established in 1983, the award is presented annually to a member of AWDA, in recognition of excellence in business performance and support for AWDA and its ideals.

Schlatterer began his aftermarket career at Crow-Burlingame Co., driving a delivery truck and working the counter while attending college. From that humble start, he progressed to the position of executive vice president/CFO/CEO with Parts Warehouse, the position he holds today. He has served on the AWDA board and been active in various AWDA and AAIA committees and has often led courses on jobber operations.

Perhaps most notably, Schlatterer has long been at the vanguard of distribution information technology and is widely recognized as an essential go-between in the aftermarket’s IT efforts. Over the years, he has played a role in coordinating IT operations between the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Activant, ACDelco, Motorcraft and many other entities.

"Bill’s work on behalf of the Alliance has paved the way for many technology and data management innovations that we in the industry take for granted today," said Jim Tennant in presenting the award. "His unselfish attitude and willingness to share with others truly make him ‘a man for others.’"
