Cloyes Gear & Products Acquires Automotive Tensioners Inc.

The partnership aims to deliver an improved and cohesive timing system solution to modern automotive repair shops, Cloyes said.

Cloyes Gear & Products, Inc. has acquired Automotive Tensioners Incorporated (ATI), based in Denton, Texas. ATI is a supplier of front-end accessory drive pulleys and tensioners to the automotive aftermarket.

This acquisition marks Cloyes’ second in the past four months, following the closure of the Rotomaster acquisition in November 2023. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2014, ATI has built a wide range of automotive pulleys and tensioners compatible with domestic and import, heavy-duty and off-road vehicles. The collaboration between Cloyes and ATI is expected to drive significant growth and expansion for both companies. The partnership aims to deliver an improved and cohesive timing system solution to modern automotive repair shops, Cloyes said.

“Following more than six years of collaboration with ATI, Cloyes consistently acknowledged their substantial proficiency in the development and sourcing of high-quality engine products that meet the rigorous requirements of contemporary vehicles,” said John Hanighen, president and CEO of Cloyes. “The complementary product lines and a shared commitment to exceptional customer satisfaction will not only enhance expansion prospects but also augment product competencies for our target audience.”

Patrick Mulholland, CEO of ATI, expressed enthusiasm for the future phases of the business’s growth trajectory.

“The ATI team is very excited about the next steps in our business’s growth path,” he said. “Cloyes’ significant geographic and customer reach represents a logical and essential progression in the evolution of ATI. This strategic move is aimed at providing structure, resources, and capital that not only enhance operational and customer service excellence but also remain aligned with the fundamental principles that have positioned ATI as an exceptional supplier.”
