XPENG Expands ADAS System Coverage in China

The company plans to extend its ADAS coverage to 200 cities across China by early 2024.

XPeng Inc., a Chinese smart electric vehicle company, has expanded its XNGP Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to 27 additional cities, including Tianjin, Chengdu, Xi’an, Wuhan and Changsha. This expansion brings the total number of cities with XNGP availability for XPENG Max trim customers to 52. The company plans to extend this coverage to 200 cities across China by early 2024, marking a significant step in its goal to drive mass adoption of autonomous driving technology.

This latest rollout makes XPENG the one of the first Chinese automakers to provide nationwide urban ADAS coverage on a large scale, highlighting a crucial achievement in its technology roadmap, the company said. Along with the expansion, XPENG’s recent over-the-air (OTA) update introduced substantial improvements across a wide range of ADAS functions. These enhancements aim to offer a safer, smoother and more comfortable driving experience, with XNGP specifically optimized for varying driving scenarios in different cities.

He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of XPENG, commented on the development: “The inflection point of ADAS technology will come with the achievement of nationwide coverage with low cost, a high level of safety and great customer experience.” He expressed a strong belief in the growing demand for ADAS over the next five years and positioned XPENG as the preferred Smart EV brand for consumers in this evolving market.
