Deadline Nears to Register for Aftermarket 101

The deadline is less than 10 days away to register for Aftermarket 101, a two-day overview of the automotive aftermarket.

The deadline is less than 10 days away to register for Aftermarket 101, a two-day overview of the motor vehicle aftermarket industry. The event will be held Sept. 12-13 at Auto-Wares Group of Companies, 2637 E. Ten Mile Road, Warren, Michigan. Hovis Auto & Truck Supply is hosting a YANG regional meet-up in conjunction with Aftermarket 101 from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at Madhouse Bar & Grill in Madison Heights. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP via Eventbrite by Sept. 6 to attend this meet-up.

“Students who attend this class will develop a firm knowledge of the breadth, depth, and scope of the Automotive Aftermarket including channels of retail, e-commerce and traditional distribution, sales development skills and opportunities, current and future industry trends, a brief introduction to heavy-duty segment, and the opportunities and challenges facing our service dealers,” stated Dr. Thomas Litzinger, executive director of the University of Aftermarket, Northwood University.

This year’s Aftermarket 101 programming titles and presenters include:

  • Industry Basics, Channels and Terminology, by Ted Hughes, executive director AWDA, senior director of community engagement, Auto Care Association.
  • Major Industry Players, by John Washbish, president and CEO of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance.
  • Retail, Traditional and Ecommerce Distribution: Structure and Trends, by Todd Leimenstoll, president and CEO of Auto-Wares Group of Companies.
  • Service Dealer Challenges and Opportunities, by Dave Erb, D Erb Consulting & Shop Owner.
  • Key Industry Indicators, Outlook, and Consumer Preferences in the U.S. and Canada, by Brian Wheeler, vice president, Automotive Sales and Consulting, Deloitte.
  • Key Industry Indicators, Outlook and Consumer Preferences in Mexico and Latin America, by Evaristo Garcia, MAAP, ACP, CEO, Integrate Data Facts – IDF.
  • A tour of the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn.

“This is a fantastic event for new hires in the automotive industry, from manufacturing and warehouse distribution to retail,” Litzinger added.

The deadline to register for Aftermarket 101 is Sept. 8. The cost is $1,150 per attendee, and they will earn 1.5 continuing education units (CEUs) toward their Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP, MAAP) designation.
