Obituary: Former SMP Executive Timothy J. Plank

Plank retired from Standard Motor Products, where he worked as an account executive for 39 years.

Timothy J. Plank, 62, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 2, 2022, at The Heritages of Overland Park.

Plank was born in Ohio and graduated from Piqua Central in 1978. He attended the Church of Nativity in Leawood where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and led the annual Fall Festival for many years. He retired from Standard Motor Products, where he worked as an account executive for 39 years.

He was involved for many years helping lead mission trips to Guatemala. Plank was on the Patron committee for Catholic Charities for the annual Snowball. He rang Bells for Salvation Army for many years. He was a generous and loyal friend to many and will be greatly missed.

In remembering Plank, a colleague from Standard Motor Products shared, “I had the great pleasure of working with Tim in his early aftermarket career. Tim had a great passion for his work but even more so for his customers and his fellow employees. Tim was a great proponent of giving back as was clearly illustrated by his volunteer work in Guatemala and with the Knights of Columbus. Tim and his smile will be missed!”

His parents, Mary Jane and Donald Plank, preceded Tim in death. Survivors include his two children, Jamie Cernich and Jack Plank; four sisters, Kathy DeBrosse, Laurie Plank, Julie Pischulla and Patti Brown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Knights of Nativity are requested.
