Pennzoil Adds 3 Div. I Collegiate Stars To Sponsorship Roster

Pennzoil will power 3 student athletes through the brand’s first-ever Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals.

For decades, Pennzoil has sponsored elite motorsports athletes. Expanding its roster, Pennzoil announces its first-ever endorsement of three NCAA Division I athletes: Indiana University basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis; University of Michigan swimmer Maggie MacNeil; and Boston College lacrosse player Charlotte North. Whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, in the swimming pool, or on the lacrosse field, each of these three athletes brings a new caliber of performance and proof to the Pennzoil line-up.

“Trayce, Maggie, and Charlotte are seamless additions to our already impressive roster of athletes,” said Amanda Luce, Pennzoil global brand manager. “Their amazing accomplishments, diverse stories and commitment to peak performance help put Pennzoil in a whole new playing field. We are excited to see these student-athletes represent the brand through new platforms.”

Through June 2022, Pennzoil will cheer on Trayce, Maggie and Charlotte as they push the limits of their own drive within sports, academics and community service and provide each with a gift card to help cover the cost of their vehicle maintenance needs. In turn, each athlete will provide a glimpse into how their vehicles are “unsung teammates” in their everyday pursuit for athletic greatness.

“For a brand with a strong heritage rooted in innovation and success to recognize our achievements is an honor,” shared Charlotte North. “I’m eager to meet my new collegiate teammates, Maggie and Trayce, and I definitely look forward to joining the likes of NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano, NTT IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden, and more in sharing stories of proof on behalf of Pennzoil!”

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana University Men’s Basketball

  • An Indiana local from Greenwood, Trayce is a standout junior forward for the Indiana University Men’s Basketball Team and a draft prospect.
  • Trayce’s accomplishments include being named First Team All-Big Ten for the 2020-2021 season and winning the 2019 Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year for his athletic abilities, academic excellence and exemplary character.
  • Along with his love for basketball, Trayce has had a passion for cars his entire life. Upon turning professional, one of his first moves will be off the court – upgrading to a new ride

Maggie MacNeil, University of Michigan Women’s Swimming

  • Maggie is a decorated senior swimmer for the University of Michigan and an Ontario, Canada native who competed for Canada in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
  • Specializing in butterfly and freestyle, Maggie won an impressive three medals in the 2020 Olympics, including gold in the 100-meter butterfly. She was named Best Female Athlete at the Tokyo Olympics by the Association of National Olympic Committees.
  • Maggie is a two-time NCAA champion (100-yard freestyle; 100-yard butterfly), 14-time Big Ten champion and two-time Big Ten Swimmer of the Year.
  • Maggie spends her mornings and nights driving to swim practice and takes pride in keeping her car in excellent condition.
  • A DIY-er who’s never had her Subaru cleaned professionally, Maggie takes tremendous pride in the appearance of her vehicle – which also means nobody is allowed to eat in it

Charlotte North, Boston College Women’s Lacrosse

  • Charlotte, who is from Dallas, Texas, is currently a graduate student at Boston College and an attacker for the women’s lacrosse team.
  • In 2021, Charlotte led the Boston College Eagles through a historic season, concluding with their first-ever national championship. Her Tewaaraton Award – given to the top men’s and women’s lacrosse player in the country – tops her personal accolades.
  • Charlotte currently drives a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and takes pride in keeping it in peak operating condition.
  • Charlotte counts on her car for cross-country drives from Dallas to Boston, as well as for ferrying teammates to and from practice and home games in all sorts of Boston weather.

Pennzoil recognizes the integral role vehicles play in the everyday lives of athletes, and through this connection we are proud to call these standout athletes teammates. Stay tuned for their stories, as Pennzoil puts the spotlight on their already bright futures.
