MAPA Announces Election Of 2020 Officers And Directors

Elected to 2020 Chairman is Greg Phillips of West Branch Automotive in West Branch, Michigan; Vice Chairman Rick Tervo of Auto Value of Houghton in Houghton, Michigan; Treasurer Randy Foote of B & W Auto Supply in Portland, Michigan; and Immediate Past Chairman John LaClair of Ross Automotive Supply in Lapeer, Michigan, completes the slate of 2020 officers.

The Michigan Automotive Parts Association (MAPA) board of directors recently elected officers and directors during its Dec. 3 board meeting in Lansing, Michigan. Elected to 2020 Chairman is Greg Phillips of West Branch Automotive in West Branch, Michigan; Vice Chairman Rick Tervo of Auto Value of Houghton in Houghton, Michigan; Treasurer Randy Foote of B & W Auto Supply in Portland, Michigan; and Immediate Past Chairman John LaClair of Ross Automotive Supply in Lapeer, Michigan, completes the slate of 2020 officers.

Elected to At-Large Director is Al Burch of Suburban Auto Supply in Swartz Creek, Michigan. District 2 Director Larry Meirndorf of The Parts Place NAPA in Holt, Michigan, was re-elected to a third term. Brian Reetz of Pine River Automotive in Alma, Michigan, was elected to represent the association’s past chairmen as 2020 Advisory Committee Representative.

Continuing current terms: Ed Thirlby of Thirlby Automotive Inc. in Traverse City, Michigan, (District 1), Gordon Kociba of Huron Auto Parts in Bad Axe, Michigan, (District 3), Darrell Liddell of Auto Value Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Michigan, (At-Large), Brian Bailie of Freeland Auto Parts in Freeland, Michigan, (At-Large), and Gary Deuling of Hart Automotive Supply in Hart, Michigan, serves as Honorary Lifetime Director.

Special recognition was given to 2019 Chairman John LaClair of Ross Automotive Supply in Lapeer, Michigan, for his outstanding leadership as 2019 Chairman. Lapeer will serve as 2020 immediate past chairman. 2019 Immediate Past Chairman Larry Shapland of Larry’s Auto Supply in Saginaw, Michigan, was honored for his exemplary service, commitment, and dedication over 18 years of service on MAPA’s board, the past four as an officer. 2019 Advisory Committee Representative Al Burch of Suburban Auto Supply in Swartz Creek, Michigan, was recognized for his contributions throughout the year as adviser.

The Michigan Automotive Parts Association is a non-profit state trade association representing independently owned automotive parts stores, warehouse distributors, service repair facilities, manufacturers, remanufacturers and associate members within Michigan’s automotive aftermarket industry. MAPA’s mission is to provide its members with business and educational information relative to the sale of automotive replacement parts, promote the automotive aftermarket industry, provide legislative and regulatory advocacy, and to enable group purchasing of member service programs. Founded in 1953 by three independent Michigan jobbers, MAPA today represents 400 automotive aftermarket businesses in Michigan.
