12th CVSN Pinewood Challenge To Be Hosted At Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2019

The CVSN Pinewood Challenge mimics pine-car derby races commonly seen during Boy Scouts of America events. The truck and trailer event is open to all HDAW '19 distributor and supplier company attendees. Awards for first, second and third place will be given to Pinewood Challenge winners. There also will be Concours d'Elegance awards for the best looking and best-designed trucks.

The CVSN Pinewood Challenge, the annual racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature trucks and trailers, will be part of an all-industry reception held during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) at 5:30pm on Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the Mirage Grand Ballroom.

The truck and trailer event is open to all HDAW ’19 distributor and supplier company attendees. Awards for first, second and third place will be given to Pinewood Challenge winners. There also will be Concours d’Elegance awards for the best looking and best-designed trucks.

First-place winners for the Pinewood Challenge race and the Concours d’Elegance will receive $250 Mastercard gift cards. Second- and third-place winners in both categories also will win Mastercard gift cards of $150 and $100, respectively.

Audience participation drawings will happen throughout the derby. Attendee prizes include:

  • Four $50 Mastercard gift cards from the HDAW organizers;
  • A special Vegas golf bag from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; and
  • Five Official NASCAR memorabilia items courtesy of CVSN

Dorman Products won the HDAW ’18 Pinewood Challenge, and Phillips Industries was awarded the top prize for the best-designed and best-looking truck in the Concours d’Elegance category.

All registered Pinewood Challenge race trucks will be on display for the duration of the HDAW ’19 Product Expo near the One-on-One information desk.

The 14th annual HDAW will be held Jan. 28-31, 2019 at The Mirage in Las Vegas. HDAW is the largest North American gathering of the independent heavy-duty aftermarket industry. More than 2,500 executives and managers from the U.S., Canada and six other countries – including distributors, suppliers, service providers, educators and industry media – attended the 2018 conference in Las Vegas.

HDAW is a business-to-business, executive conference presented by a joint operating committee of industry leaders from 12 distinguished industry associations: American Council of Frame and Alignment Specialists (ACOFAS), Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS), Auto Care Association/ HDDA, Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN), HDA-Truck Pride, Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), APRA’s Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG), International Truck Parts Association (ITPA), Overseas Automotive Council (OAC), Power Heavy Duty, Service Specialists Association (SSA), and VIPAR Heavy Duty.
