“Top executives from key global suppliers, such as Bosch, Johnson Controls, Delphi and Schaeffler, are providing their views at the Summit on the next evolution of the market in China,” said Bill Long, president and chief operating officer of AASA. “This demonstrates the global interest in China among AASA members.”
Despite recent economic challenges, the long-term development of the aftermarket in China is viewed as a huge opportunity. However, there are challenges to be addressed if a sustainable business model is to take hold for the industry there.
The Aftermarket Summit is an annual event hosted in Shanghai by AASA. At the Summit, AASA outlined to its supplier members how the market will need to evolve. “Over time, vehicle owners will need local access to variety of choices of quality products and convenient service outlets; replacement products that are of consistent high quality, are easily available, and are professionally installed; and confidence in the performance and safety of the replaced parts and repair service,” said Jay Burkhart, AASA chief strategy officer, at the Summit.
Automechanika Shanghai 2015, Asia’s largest trade show for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services and the second largest Automechanika event worldwide, is taking place from Dec. 2-5 at the new venue National Exhibition and Convention Center, Puxi, Shanghai, with a record exhibitor numbers.
