Dayco Manufacturing Plants In China Earn Quality Excellence Award From Caterpillar

For the second consecutive year, the Dayco Wujiang plants have been recognized for an ongoing commitment to quality.

Dayco, a leading engine products and drive systems supplier for the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries, announced that its two manufacturing plants in Wujiang, China, were named recipients of the Silver Supplier Certification as part of Caterpillar’s Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP). This award recognizes suppliers that have achieved Caterpillar Quality Management System supplier certification, which includes suppliers’ commitment to providing exceptional service, quality and delivery performance on an ongoing basis.

“Dayco’s associates in Wujiang are committed to achieving customer satisfaction by designing quality into our products and systems, and that is apparent in the receipt of this award from Caterpillar for the second straight year,” said John Bohenick, CEO for Dayco. “Our investments in China are a big step forward in our goal of fully supporting Caterpillar, as well as other partners, in this growing market. We thank Caterpillar for recognizing our ability to deliver high-quality products with reliable processes driven and backed by an organization with a zero-defect mindset.”

Through demonstrated results, Caterpillar says Dayco has exhibited excellent process control, has shown a desire for ongoing continuous improvement, and has provided quality products to Caterpillar customers. From the Wujiang plants, Dayco supplies PV belts, belt tensioners and idler pulleys to Caterpillar for its 1100 and 1200 series engines, along with strong technical and sales support.

“Our focus is on driving innovation to meet Caterpillar’s need for increased durability to reduce downtime and operating costs,” said Charlie Qiu, president for Dayco in China. “As a global engine components manufacturer, we will continue to leverage our resources worldwide to provide the best service and products available to support Caterpillar’s growth in China.”

Opened in 2011 as Dayco’s first belt manufacturing plant in China, the Wujiang plant manufactures a wide range of engine timing belts and accessory PV belts for use in automotive and industrial end-markets, including advanced technology timing belt-in-oil systems and long-life PV belts for demanding industrial applications. In August 2012, Dayco expanded its presence in Wujiang with the openings of its idler pulley and belt tensioner plant. Since then, Dayco’s position in China has become an important part of its growth strategy. Dayco associates in China continue developing strong relationships with both OE customers and aftermarket distributors while strengthening the Dayco brand in China.

“Caterpillar continues to be a valuable customer for Dayco in the industrial market and has been for more than 50 years,” said Paul DiLisio, senior vice president of automotive and industrial OE sales. “Our associates’ long-standing commitment to close customer support and robust engineering is once again recognized and we thank Caterpillar for depending on Dayco to deliver products and systems that endure.”

In May 2015, the plants in Wujiang were awarded the Silver Supplier Certification from Caterpillar. In September 2015, the Dayco belt tensioner, pulley and damper manufacturing plant in Ivrea, Italy, also was awarded the Gold Supplier Certification from Caterpillar. Most recently, in June 2016, Dayco’s Manresa, Spain, pulley and bearing cap manufacturing plant also was awarded Gold Supplier Certification from Caterpillar.
