Accuride de Mexico Recognized As An AME 2016 Excellence Award Recipient

The AME Excellence Award primarily recognizes North American manufacturing plants that have demonstrated excellence in business and manufacturing.

The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) has named Accuride de Mexico as a recipient of the AME 2016 Excellence Award, which primarily recognizes North American manufacturing plants that have demonstrated excellence in business and manufacturing. An AME representative visited the facility in Monterrey, Mexico, on Oct. 18 to present the award. The company also will be honored at the AME 2016 International Conference, taking place Oct. 24-28 in Dallas.

ame-excellence-award-logoThe AME Excellence Award acknowledges continuous improvement, best practices, creativity and innovation. The rigorous selection process begins when a company submits an extensive achievement report based on the AME Excellence Award evaluation criteria. Achievement reports are evaluated by the AME award assessment team. For companies that score high enough in this achievement report review, an intensive site visit is completed, during which a volunteer team of manufacturing practitioners validates the submitted achievement report. Recipients of the Excellence Award are selected based on the combined results of the achievement report review and site visit feedback.

“We look forward to celebrating the AME Excellence Award earned by our Accuride de Mexico facility, Accuride’s fourth AME award in the past three years,” said Accuride President and CEO Rick Dauch. “Our Monterrey associates have embraced Accuride’s common Lean Manufacturing and Quality systems as a competitive advantage. With robust processes and a continuous improvement mindset, they have achieved world-class quality, on-time delivery and lead-time performance for their customers. Their lean journey has no end.”

During the evaluation, the AME assessment team highlighted Accuride de Mexico’s robust use of policy deployment and its aggressive continuous improvement initiatives. The assessors praised the facility’s standout strengths including Accuride’s policy deployment, which encompasses voice of the customer and objectives, the facility’s pull systems and its continuous improvement process that utilizes value stream mapping and green belt projects to improve processes and products. The team also commended Accuride de Mexico’s use of daily team meetings that occur in all operations and support areas to ensure goal conformance and to address problems, and its well-developed safety and environmental programs.

“Accuride’s leadership and plant employees can be proud of the site’s business excellence and continuous improvement accomplishments,” stated the assessment team report. “The Monterrey facility has made strides toward the establishment of a lean managing system, including a focus on the implementation of visual management systems, cellular workflow, policy deployment, daily performance reviews and voice of the customer.”

Also being honored as 2016 Excellence Award recipients are Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio; Littelfuse in Wuxi, China; MillerCoors – Trenton Brewery; and O.C. Tanner in Salt Lake City.
