While it may be taboo to talk about certain topics in the workplace, we break that rule this week to talk politics – or more specifically – political action committees, otherwise known as PACs.
While your own personal political leanings are private business, when it comes to matters affecting the automotive aftermarket, now more than ever it is time to speak up. And for some in the aftermarket, they say now is the time to put your money where your mouth is and support your industry PACs.
JC Washbish, vice chairman of the Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG), and director of marketing for the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, had this to say about the critical importance of supporting industry PACs: “One other big emphasis that YANG has is our attention to the Auto Care Political Action Committee (ACPAC). Every person on the YANG council has already made their 2018 ACPAC contribution. We’re dedicated to it … So my challenge to every executive, every leader who has the belief that YANG members feel entitled, here’s a bunch of young people not making nearly as much money as the veterans, taking hard earned cash that we’re making and putting it to a red and blue government entity to ensure that we have a place to work in the future because we care enough about this industry that we’re willing to support the ACPAC.”
