Karamba Security’s Autonomous Security Recognized With Frost & Sullivan’s 2017 Award For Automotive New Product Innovation

Karamba's Autonomous Security protects against cybersecurity threats by autonomously hardening externally connected electronic control units and preventing hacker infiltration with zero false positives.

Frost & Sullivan has recognized Karamba Security, a provider of autonomous cybersecurity software for connected and autonomous vehicles, with the 2017 North American New Product Innovation Award for the Automotive Industry.

Industry leaders agree that tomorrow’s autonomous vehicles need to be secure against cybersecurity threats in a safe and predictable manner and, ultimately, to self-heal. Karamba’s Autonomous Security achieves that by autonomously hardening externally connected electronic control units (ECUs) and preventing hacker infiltration with zero false positives. Karamba’s innovative approach was recognized as unique and suitable to the industry’s intolerance to false positives, which mistakenly block legitimate vehicle commands, thereby introducing safety risks.

When Frost & Sullivan evaluated the market, it analyzed customer impact, measuring against these criteria: customer service experience; purchase and ownership experience and price/performance value. In a second category, “new product attributes,” it was measured against: match to needs; reliability; quality; positioning and design. According to Frost & Sullivan analysts, Karamba was the best across all categories.

“Karamba’s Autonomous Security is designed to address the main cybersecurity concerns of original equipment manufacturers and customers – attack prevention, seamless integration with zero false positives and the robustness and performance to fit existing hardware and software environments,” said Senior Consultant Sriram Venkatraman at Frost & Sullivan. “Karamba enables attack prevention with zero false positives, which, in turn, alleviates safety risks.”

Reliability was a key factor in the analysts’ evaluation. “Karamba applies prevention that is based on the customer’s factory settings. This prevents attacks without the risk of false positives or false negatives. Because Karamba’s cybersecurity policy is based on factory settings and does not rely on malware signatures, it prevents attacks without any need for new malware signature updates regardless of connectivity,” said Venkatraman. “Karamba’s prevention approach provides zero-day protection across the protected product’s lifecycle.”

“We’ve been researching the automotive industry for a long time and know all the ecosystem participants. With the spike in autonomous security, Karamba stood out as the only one worldwide that prevents hacks and stops false positives,” said Venkatraman. “Cybersecurity solutions of the future must be robust, standalone and agnostic. Karamba’s solution is more reliable because it provides automatic policy generation, prevents in-memory attacks, reports malicious activities and classifies exploits by attack path, type of attack and specific ECU.”

“Receiving this prestigious recognition is a great accomplishment for our team and underscores that we successfully introduced a unique solution into the market, delivering high impact and customer value,” said Ami Dotan, co-founder and CEO of Karamba Security. “We are most grateful to the Frost & Sullivan analysts and organization for bestowing this honor upon us.”
