Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket Professionals Successfully Complete University Of The Aftermarket’s ‘Heavy Duty Leadership’ Seminar

Now in its fifth year, the program is designed to develop the business, management and leadership skills of mid-career professionals working in the North American commercial vehicle aftermarket.

Northwood - University of the Aftermarket - LogoIn mid-July, a group of heavy-duty aftermarket professionals completed the week-long Heavy Duty Leadership (HDL) education conference, held at Northwood University. The annual program offered by the University of the Aftermarket, now in its fifth year, is designed to develop the business, management and leadership skills of mid-career professionals working in the North American commercial vehicle aftermarket.

Participants in this year’s HDL class represented a wide range of heavy-duty aftermarket job functions, geographies and experiences. This year’s class included:

The program kicked off on July 10 at Northwood University’s Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies with a keynote presentation from Omega Environmental Technologies CEO Peter Butterfield. Butterfield’s career spans both the OE side and the aftermarket, including senior positions at Ford and Volvo and also as CEO of Kia Motors, in addition to an ownership stake in ATK. He spoke to the class about his career and the failures he experienced that made him a better person and leader.

The week also included leadership- and industry-focused sessions presented by faculty from Northwood University’s DeVos Graduate School of Management and leaders in the commercial truck aftermarket.

Heavy Duty Leadership graduates earned 3.5 continuing education units that can be applied toward their Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP) or Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designations. The next Heavy Duty Leadership program is scheduled for July 9-14, 2017.
