2016 MAPA Educational Development Scholarship Fund Recipients Announced

Since the MAPA Educational Development Scholarship Fund program began in 1991, MAPA has awarded $68,000 to 72 students.

MAPA - LogoThe Michigan Automotive Parts Association (MAPA) has announced the recipients of MAPA’s 2016 Educational Development Scholarship Fund, chosen by Lansing’s Capital Region Community Foundation. Three $1,000 scholarships were awarded, in addition to a $500 scholarship for the recipient of the 2016 Jud Morrison Memorial Achievement of Excellence Award.

MAPA congratulates these very deserving recipients:

John Staiger IV, sponsored by NAPA Port Huron located in Port Huron, Michigan. Staiger will be a freshmen enrolled at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, majoring in aerospace engineering in the fall of 2016. John is the son of John and Wendy Staiger III of St. Clair, Michigan.

Alyssa Kociba, sponsored by Huron Auto Parts located in Bad Axe, Michigan. Kociba will be a senior enrolled at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, majoring in therapeutic recreation in the fall of 2016. She is the daughter of Rick and Lori Kociba of Bad Axe, Michigan.

Kaitlyn Kociba, sponsored by Huron Auto Parts located in Bad Axe, Michigan. Kaitlyn will be a freshmen enrolled at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, majoring in accounting in the fall of 2016. Kaitlyn also is the daughter of Rick and Lori Kociba of Bad Axe, Michigan.

Brooke Peckham, sponsored by Auto-Wares Group of Companies located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Peckham will be a sophomore enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, majoring in human resource management to support the growing car care industry in the fall of 2016. Brooke is the daughter of Charles and Merriea Lubben of Cedar Springs, Michigan. Brooke was awarded the distinguished 2016 Jud Morrison Memorial Achievement of Excellence Award named in memory of MAPA co-founding father and past chairman of the board of directors, Justin H. Morrison. Brooke’s academic achievements and outstanding community service record exemplify the high standards and commitment to excellence that Jud Morrison stood for.

The Michigan Automotive Parts Association has allied its scholarship program with the Capital Region Community Foundation to enable MAPA’s charitable pursuits. Since the MAPA Educational Development Scholarship Fund program began in 1991, MAPA has awarded $68,000 to 72 students.
