Among the most highly read stories this week is an Executive Interview with Dennis Samfilippo, General Manager, Philips Lighting North America. In the interview, Samfilippo discusses the latest advancements in automotive lighting technology and its role in improving driver safety, as well as several new LED products released by Philips.

Editor Amy Antenora is currently in Frankfurt, Germany, attending Automechanika Frankfurt, where she learned about Brembo’s unveiling of its new range of ultraviolet-coated brake discs. The UV-coated discs answer the call from a wide range of consumers looking for aesthetic appeal, says Marco Moretti, aftermarket business unit marketing director for Brembo.

Also at Automechanika this week, we learned how Delphi Product & Service Solutions is helping to prepare the aftermarket by launching what the company says is an "industry-first" Emissions Module for its Delphi Service Centres (DSC). Delphi says it has leveraged its vehicle systems development expertise to develop a “one-stop shop” for emissions diagnosis and repair in the aftermarket.

Federal-Mogul unveiled the company’s new ANCO Transform wiper blades, which the company says integrates the aerodynamic features and all-weather efficiency of beam style blades with the precisely positioned pressure points of bridge blades for exceptional wiping performance. ANCO Transform wipers are equipped with an integral spoiler that helps maximize downforce and a unique secondary linkage with bowed flexor for firm, consistent blade-to-glass contact for optimized wipe performance at high speeds.

Lastly, Amy Antenora gives us snapshots from the floor of Automechanika in a special slideshow. Messe Frankfurt, the show organizer, says Automechanika is the world’s biggest trade fair for the automotive aftermarket, highlighting "innovations and solutions in the fields of parts, systems, tuning, workshop equipment, bodywork and paintwork, car wash, IT and management and the latest automobile services."
