Polk Named to 2012 InformationWeek 500

Polk included in top 100 Technology Innovators Across America.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. and DANA POINT, Calif. — Polk, a global leader in automotive market intelligence and solutions, has been named to the top 100 of the 2012 InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. This year’s list was announced at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference. This marks the fourth consecutive year Polk has been named to this prestigious list of technology innovators and the first time the company has placed in the top 100.

“As a provider of industry-leading, easy-to-use solutions to customers in the automotive industry, we recognized the need to enrich the quality and user experience of our PolkInsight offering by leveraging a combination of Oracle business intelligence (BI) technologies,” said Joe LaFeir, chief information officer at Polk. “This adaptation enhanced our flagship product by improving its overall performance, design and on-screen reporting capabilities.”

Advanced data visualization and discovery capabilities supported the design of enhanced custom analytic and interactive dashboards within PolkInsight to allow for at-a-glance interpretation and better decision-making. The data can now be customized for specific user groups and presented in a unique, flexible format, enabling users to view multiple reports with key market indicators on a single screen and dynamically drill down into the information. The new Oracle platform also reduced the response time of extremely complex inquiries from minutes to seconds, Polk says.

“These achievements underscore our dedication to new data visualization and database infrastructure technologies,” said LaFeir. “At Polk, we are driven by the desire to constantly enhance the customer experience by leveraging industry-leading data and innovative IT platforms.”

“The InformationWeek 500 has recognized the most innovative users of business technology for 24 years, and this year’s innovations were particularly impressive,” said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “What the editors looked for are unconventional approaches – new technologies, new models, news ways of grabbing business opportunities and solving complex business challenges with IT.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings and spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
