TROY, Mich. — ArvinMeritor today announced the appointment of David Giroux as director of global brand management and marketing communications for the Americas.
Giroux succeeds D. Mike Pennington, who is retiring after more than 25 years of service to the company. Pennington will continue to provide ongoing support to the company’s marketing communications activity in a consulting and industry relations capacity.
In this role, Giroux is responsible for directing the company’s worldwide branding efforts, as well as the strategic direction and market execution for the company’s truck, industrial and aftermarket and trailer business segments’ marketing communications activities in North and South America, including media and public relations, advertising, shows and exhibits, sales collateral and social media communications.
"We are pleased to welcome David back to the company," said Lin Cummins, senior vice president of communications. "He has the experience, industry knowledge, global perspective and strong relationships with our industry’s journalists to take our company’s brand to a higher level of recognition and awareness. We are also grateful to Mike for his many achievements and years of dedicated service to ArvinMeritor, and we look forward to benefiting from his continued strategic communications counsel. Mike has been recognized in the industry as one of its premier communicators through numerous awards, including the Truck Writers of North America’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007."
Giroux joins ArvinMeritor after serving as director of marketing communications for Peterbilt Motors Co. in Denton, Texas. In this role, he led the company’s branding and marketing communications initiatives. Previously, Giroux served as ArvinMeritor’s director of marketing communications for Europe and Asia/Pacific from 2003 to 2006. From 1999 to 2003, he held several marketing communications management positions for ArvinMeritor’s light vehicle systems, aftermarket components and commercial vehicle systems business groups.
Giroux holds a bachelors degree in psychology and humanities from Michigan State University Honors College and a master of business administration in strategic marketing from Davenport University’s Sneden Graduate School in Warren, Mich.
